Late Winter, Bear Lake

This painting was inspired by an early March visit to Rocky Mountain National Park. After a lovely hike through grassy meadows along Cow Creek, we ventured uphill to Bear Lake. Much snowier! The late afternoon sun was fading, and the cold was setting in. Just a touch of thaw showing open water on Bear Lake, while the surrounding peaks stood quietly in their snowy blankets.
