Happy Stump

Why did I choose to a paint a tree stump? I was at Coot Lake in Boulder (yes! I did see coots!) for the weekly Boulder Plein Air Group's session. It was a warm, sunny day in March after some cold weather -- it felt like spring was maybe finally arriving. The water in the lake was all emerald-turquoise-aqua. The withered sunflowers and grasses on the shoreline shared a burst of gold in the sunlight. And there, sitting on the edge of the lake, minding it's own business, was a tree stump. Basking in the rainbow of color, the warm sun. Being happy. Reminding me to be happy. So, I shared the happiness of spending a couple of hours painting it. And now, I'd love to share that happiness with you!
